English 4 IT
What is English 4 IT?
English 4 IT is an eLearning course designed to train non-native English speaking (ESL or EFL) students and professionals to communicate effectively in an English IT environment. This online course can be used to tutor Computer Science (CS) students, Information Science (IS) students, and Information Technology (IT) professionals of every kind.
English 4 IT assumes at least an Intermediate level of written English.

Course Contents
The course is organized in Workshops to teach three main areas:
Interactive Vocabulary Builder
New vocabulary is taught with the Glossary module, which includes common IT terms broken down into 10 Categories including: hardware, software, networking, personalities, networking, organizations, programming, databases, slang, and security.
Every term in the glossary includes a custom written definition ideal for EFL students, along with pronunciation by a native speaker and part of speech and pronunciation workshop where the student can record his voice and compare it to the native speaker.
The glossary is highly customizable and self-study students or teachers can turn categories on and off depending on their needs. There is also a Glossary Game drill which tests the students knowledge of the vocabulary with an almost infinite number of random questions.
History of IT
With the History of IT section, students can improve their knowledge and English comprehension. The exercises can be read and completed online or printed out. The new vocabulary terms in the History section are hyperlinked to the Interactive Glossary so students can learn and pronounce unfamiliar names and acronyms. Interactive quizzes follow each chapter.
Culture of IT
eLearning is supposed to be fun, right? Definitely. The Culture of IT features IT jokes and dialogues, with key vocabulary linked back to the Interactive Glossary, and explanations for all the complicated jokes, puns, and anecdotes used in the section. Sure to be the student's favorite section.
Final Test and Certification
Mainly used for individual students seeking academic credit, there is a final test which students can take. If they pass, then they can print out a customized certificate and show it to prospective employers and academic institutions.
